Bone cancer is a cellular growth that first appears in the bones. Bone cancer can originate in any bone. However, it most often affects the thigh bone.

The term “bone cancer” does not include cancers that start in other parts of the body and spread to the bones. Cancers that spread to the bones are still named after the place where they started. For example, a cancer that started in the lungs and spread to the bones is still lung cancer. Medical professionals may call it lung cancer that has metastasized to the bone.

Cancers that start in the bones are very rare. There are several different types of bone cancer. Some types of bone cancer are mostly seen in children. Other types are mostly seen in adults.

Signs and symptoms of bone cancer include:

● Bone pain.
● Swelling and pressure near the affected area.
● Weak bones, which can lead to fractures.
● Feeling very tired.
● Non-deliberate weight loss.

The most common types of bone cancer include:

● Osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma is a type of bone cancer that originates in bone cells. Osteosarcoma is the most common type of bone cancer. Osteosarcoma is most common in the adolescent and young adult population, but young children and older adults can also develop the disease. Osteosarcoma is most commonly found in the long bones of the legs and sometimes in the long bones of the arms. In very rare cases, it can also occur in soft tissue outside the bone.

● Chondrosarcoma. Chondrosarcoma is a type of bone cancer that usually originates in the bones, but can sometimes be found in soft tissue. Chondrosarcoma is most commonly found in the pelvis, hip, and shoulder, and is prevalent in middle-aged and older adults.

● Ewing sarcoma. Ewing sarcoma is a type of bone cancer that originates in the bones or soft tissues surrounding the bones. Ewing sarcoma occurs in children and young adults, although it can occur at any age. It most often originates in the leg bones and pelvis, but can occur in any bone.
